Hisense AX5100G Soundbar

The Hisense AX5100G is a 5.1-channel Dolby Atmos soundbar that promises to deliver immersive and spatial sound for a budget-friendly price. It comes with a wireless subwoofer and two wireless rear speakers, as well as HDMI eARC, optical, Bluetooth, and 3.5mm aux inputs. It also supports AI EQ mode, which automatically adjusts the sound modes according to the content being played.

The Hisense AX5100G has a simple and sleek design. The soundbar measures 36.2 by 2.4 by 3.5 inches and weighs just 5.78 pounds, making it easy to place under most TVs or mount on the wall with the included brackets. The soundbar has four drivers: two full-range drivers and two tweeters. The subwoofer has a 6.5-inch driver measuring 8.4 by 11.6 by 12 inches and weighs 11.6 pounds. The subwoofer connects wirelessly to the soundbar, but it requires a power outlet nearby. The rear speakers are small and light, measuring 3.6 by 5.9 by 4.4 inches. The rear speakers need to be plugged into the power outlet and connected to each other with a 3.5mm cable. The sound setup delivers a total output power of 340 watts.

The setup of the Hisense AX5100G is fairly straightforward, as the soundbar automatically pairs with the subwoofer and the rear speakers once they are powered on. You can connect the soundbar to your TV via HDMI eARC, which supports Dolby Atmos and DTS:X passthrough, or via optical cable, which only supports Dolby Digital and DTS formats. You can also connect your devices via Bluetooth or aux input for wireless or wired streaming. The soundbar has a small LED display on the front that shows the input source, volume level, and sound mode. The display is dimmable and can be turned off completely if you prefer. The Hisense AX5100G comes with a remote control that lets you adjust the volume, bass, treble, subwoofer level, rear speaker level, sound mode, input source, Bluetooth pairing, mute, night mode, and AI EQ mode. The remote is compact and ergonomic, with rubberized buttons that are easy to press and navigate.

In terms of sound quality, the Hisense AX5100G is good, but not great. The soundbar does a good job of producing a wide soundstage, and it can get quite loud. However, the sound can be a bit muddy at times, and the bass doesn’t have a lot of impact. The Hisense AX5100G claims to deliver a 5.1-channel Dolby Atmos experience with virtual height effects, but in reality, it falls short of its promise. The Hisense AX5100G’s sound quality is disappointing. The soundbar’s midrange and high frequencies lack clarity and detail, making voices sound muffled and harsh. The subwoofer is boomy and lacking definition, overpowering the rest of the system and creating a disjointed bass response. The rear speakers rear are weak and fail to create a convincing surround effect, failing to create a convincing surround effect.

The Hisense AX5100G also fails to create any spatial audio effect with Dolby Atmos or DTS:X content. The soundbar does not have any upward-firing drivers or virtualization technology to simulate height cues, so the soundstage remains flat and narrow. The soundbar does not have any side-firing drivers either, so it does not create any width or depth in the soundstage. The soundbar does not have any dedicated center channel either, so it does not deliver clear dialogue or center imaging.

Overall, the Hisense AX5100G is a good budget-friendly soundbar system. It’s not the best soundbar on the market, but it’s a good option for those who are looking for a surround sound experience without breaking the bank. However, if you’re looking for the best possible sound quality, you may want to consider a more expensive soundbar.
